The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced an online facility allowing citizens to request replacement of lost or damaged Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) through the PakID mobile application. The facility allows eligible citizens to initiate the reprint process from home without visiting a NADRA registration office. The development expands NADRA’s digital identity services and gives citizens another option for managing their identity documents remotely.

To request a replacement, users need to open the PakID application and access the “Identity Documents” section from the home screen. They can then select “Identity Card,” choose the relevant applicant and select the “Reprint” option. The application will subsequently provide instructions for completing the remaining steps. NADRA’s official website also confirms that CNIC reprint and lost-card services are available through the PakID mobile application.

The online service is part of NADRA’s wider move toward digital identity services. The PakID application supports several identity-document services, including CNIC renewal, modification and reprint of lost cards, as well as services for National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis and Pakistan Origin Cards. NADRA describes PakID as its official mobile platform for applying for identity documents, submitting required information, tracking applications and accessing related services.

NADRA has also been expanding its digital identity infrastructure through features such as digital identity services and the PakID Vault, which allows citizens to store and view important documents digitally. The authority has separately introduced a QR-code-based National Identity Card, with the new format being rolled out in phases from August 2026. While the latest CNIC reprint facility reduces the need for an in-person visit for eligible replacement requests, NADRA notes that certain identity services or verification requirements may still require interaction with a registration centre depending on the application.
