Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab has directed the KMC Land Department to make arrangements regarding computerized land records.
Wahab gave the orders during a meeting with department officials on Wednesday.
He believes that all KMC properties, including plots, should be listed on the company’s official website so that people can easily find information about the company’s properties.
He added that the agency should make necessary provisions to secure KMC properties and that the KMC Law Department should properly pursue any court issues related to them.
Tariq Siddiqui, director of the KMC Land Department, briefed the administrator on the KMC land record.
According to Siddiqui, the KMC has preserved a land record since 1800, but it is in a deteriorated state.
The director stated that the KMC has begun to computerise the old records, adding that the lease, mutation, and transfer records have been computerised since February.
After scanning, Siddiqui stated that the old KMC land records would be computerised. “In the previous fiscal year, the KMC land department achieved 90 percent of its revenue target,” he added, adding that the agency is aiming to meet that goal in FY2021-22.
Wahab asked the department to examine the KMC land rates with the Board of Revenue and, if necessary, increase them in accordance with the law.
The KMC has begun to computerise old documents, according to the director, with the lease, mutation, and transfer records having been computerised since February.
After scanning, the old KMC land records will be computerised, according to Siddiqui.
“In the previous fiscal year, the KMC land department met 90 percent of its revenue target,” he added, adding that the agency intends to meet same objective in FY2021-22.
