Pakistan Software Export Board convened a consultative session at its headquarters in Islamabad, bringing together representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan, leading commercial banks, and Pakistan’s IT industry to advance the digitization of Exporter Special Foreign Currency Account payments, a step aimed at faster and more frictionless banking for IT exporters.
The session served as a platform to review a newly developed digital solution, gather practical industry recommendations, and identify concrete measures to simplify banking processes and eliminate transaction delays facing Pakistan’s IT sector. Bringing the central bank, commercial banks, and IT industry representatives together in one session reflects an effort to align the technical requirements of exporters with the operational realities of the banking system responsible for processing their foreign currency transactions.
Pakistan Software Export Board Chief Executive Officer Faisal Jeddy engaged directly with participants throughout the session, underscoring the board’s commitment to bridging the gap between the IT industry and the financial sector. Senior leadership from the board also took an active role in the discussion, including Chief Business Development Officer Sulman Hassan and Director of Strategic Coordination and External Reporting Raza Ahmed Sukhera.
The session adds to a series of initiatives Pakistan Software Export Board has pursued to improve the operational environment for IT exporters, spanning workforce data collection through its National IT Industry Census, procurement training for the US public sector market, and now direct engagement with the banking sector on payment processing. The board said it continues to take concrete steps to improve the IT industry ecosystem, working across institutions to remove barriers, streamline processes, and create an enabling environment that supports the sustained growth of Pakistan’s IT and IT enabled services exports.
