Collab P, Riphah International University, CoreNet Systems, and eCav Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch the UFPCP 2026 Final Year Product Commercialization Program, an initiative aimed at transforming Pakistani university student projects into commercially viable products for the United States market. The agreement was signed at Riphah International University’s I-14/3 Campus in Islamabad, bringing together a technology company, an academic institution, and two industry partners under a single collaborative framework.
The MoU was signed by Farhan E Shah, Chief Executive Officer of Collab P, Dr Naveed Ikram, Director of Riphah Innovation and Startup Ecosystem at Riphah International University, Dr Amir Qayyum, Chief Executive Officer of CoreNet Systems, and Syed Asim Gilani of eCav Technologies. Brig (Retd) Syed Nadir Hussain Shah, Project Director for Information Technology and Telecommunication at the Special Investment Facilitation Council, attended the signing ceremony, reaffirming the council’s stated commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s innovation, commercialization, and export led technology ecosystem through initiatives of this kind.
Through the partnership, final year student projects from Riphah International University will be developed into export ready products and introduced to the United States State, Local, and Education market, commonly referred to as SLED, which the organizers estimate is worth approximately $1.85 trillion annually. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by giving Pakistani students, researchers, and innovators structured pathways to develop products with direct access to one of the largest public procurement markets in the world, an opportunity that has historically been difficult for university researchers in Pakistan to access without established international partnerships or intermediaries familiar with US government contracting processes.
Organizers described the partnership as a significant step toward connecting Pakistan’s universities with US commercialization opportunities, framing it as a way to accelerate innovation, create high value intellectual property, and support the country’s broader knowledge based economy. Special recognition was given to Inam Khosa of SmartFusion Technologies for helping organize the initiative in collaboration with Riphah International University. The program adds to a growing pattern of partnerships between Pakistani universities, technology firms, and government backed investment bodies aimed at giving locally developed research and student projects a more direct route to international markets, particularly the United States public sector procurement space, which remains largely untapped by Pakistani technology exporters compared to more conventional software services and freelancing channels.
