Sunrate, the global cross-border payments platform, will officially launch in Pakistan on August 12, 2026, with an event in Lahore titled On the Front Foot, Pakistan. The launch falls two days ahead of Pakistan’s Independence Day and will bring together founders, bankers, and industry leaders to discuss cross-border payment infrastructure for Pakistani businesses.

Sunrate has already been operating quietly in Pakistan, serving a base of businesses that needed faster and more reliable ways to receive international payments. The Lahore event marks the company’s formal entry into the market and will serve as a recognition of the partners and clients who supported its early growth in the country. Joshua Bao, co-founder of Sunrate, will travel to Lahore for the launch and is expected to speak on how global payments infrastructure can help Pakistani businesses scale internationally.

The evening will also include a banking panel featuring leaders from Pakistan’s financial sector, along with a discussion on how artificial intelligence is changing the way Pakistani businesses approach global markets. The platform is aimed at businesses that earn income across borders, including IT and software companies billing international clients, freelancers and agencies working through platforms such as Upwork, e-commerce sellers operating on global marketplaces, and digital marketing agencies managing overseas billing and multi-currency accounts.

Sunrate positions its offering around faster settlement times, competitive foreign exchange rates, and direct, on-ground support rather than routing customers through automated systems, and supports more than 130 currencies across over 190 countries and regions. The company is a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard, with more than a decade of experience in global payments. Attendees at the launch event will also have the opportunity to connect directly with Sunrate’s Pakistan team, giving businesses a local point of contact for ongoing support as the platform positions itself within Pakistan’s growing base of exporters, freelancers, and digital businesses handling cross-border transactions.
