Pakistan Digital Authority welcomed Dr Akif Khan, Managing Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board, to its headquarters for a meeting focused on strengthening institutional collaboration between the two organizations. The engagement reflects a broader recognition within Pakistan Digital Authority that federal and provincial governments both need to be closely involved for the national digital agenda to be delivered effectively.

The meeting, held with Pakistan Digital Authority Chairperson Dr Sohail Munir, centered on accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation through closer intergovernmental cooperation between federal and provincial institutions. Discussions covered digital public infrastructure, digital identity, interoperability, digital government services, emerging technologies, innovation ecosystems, and capacity building, spanning both the technical and institutional dimensions of the countrywide digital agenda.

The engagement reflects a division of labor in which provinces are expected to build on the shared platforms, standards, and technical rails that Pakistan Digital Authority establishes at the national level. Officials said this arrangement depends on regular contact between the federal authority and provincial technology bodies, positioning meetings like this one as part of the ongoing coordination needed to keep that structure functioning.

Pakistan Digital Authority said progress in Pakistan’s digital transformation will ultimately be measured at the provincial level, and that it looks forward to working closely with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board in advancing a secure, inclusive, and interoperable digital ecosystem across the country. The meeting adds to a series of engagements Pakistan Digital Authority has held with provincial and federal institutions in recent weeks, including NADRA, the Ministry of National Health Services, and the National Telecommunication Corporation, as it continues building out the coordination structure underpinning its national digital transformation mandate.
