Pakistan’s ICT sector continues to demonstrate strong performance, surpassing other areas of the services economy with significant growth in export remittances. From July to October of fiscal year 2025–26, ICT export remittances reached a total of $1.443 billion, marking a 19.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. October alone contributed $386 million, a year-on-year rise of 17 percent, setting a record for the highest monthly contribution to date. These figures underscore the expanding role of technology-driven services in strengthening Pakistan’s economy and its global trade presence.
The growth in ICT exports reflects sustained demand for IT and ITeS solutions from international markets, particularly in regions such as MENAP and Europe. The sector has leveraged competitive pricing, skilled workforce, and innovative solutions to capture a larger share of global digital services trade. Pakistan’s IT and ITeS industry also recorded a trade surplus of $1.274 billion during this period, further highlighting its central contribution to the country’s digital economy. This surplus demonstrates the ability of technology exports to generate foreign exchange and strengthen Pakistan’s economic stability.
Policy initiatives and government support have played a crucial role in facilitating this growth. Measures such as the Equity Investment Abroad facility, enhanced retention limits in specialized foreign currency accounts, and efforts under Uraan Pakistan are providing IT companies with opportunities to expand operations while ensuring effective management of export proceeds. A recent survey by P@SHA indicated that a majority of IT firms maintain specialized foreign currency accounts, reflecting growing confidence in the sector’s ability to manage earnings efficiently and reinvest in innovation and capacity building.
Looking ahead, industry analysts expect the ICT sector to maintain this growth trajectory, supported by ongoing demand for software development, business process outsourcing, and digital services. With a continued focus on quality, innovation, and adherence to international standards, Pakistan’s IT exports are poised to achieve ambitious targets set for FY26 and beyond. By combining skilled human capital with favorable policies and technology-driven solutions, ICT remains a key driver of economic development, job creation, and Pakistan’s reputation as a competitive hub for digital services in the global market.
