In a significant decision, the Sindh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has greenlit the initiation of Kissan Cards across the province. The decision was reached during a cabinet meeting attended by key officials including provincial ministers, the Chief Secretary, and the Finance Secretary.
Under the directive of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Kissan Cards will be issued not only to landowners but also to those cultivating 12 acres of land independently. The issuance process is expected to be completed within six months, covering agricultural stakeholders throughout Sindh.
Emphasizing the importance of agricultural support, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah underscored that priority will be given to wheat procurement and farmers will receive assistance in case of natural disasters. He highlighted the directive from Bilawal Bhutto to promote agriculture based on scientific principles.
In addition to the Kissan Cards initiative, the Sindh cabinet approved a grant of Rs. 5 million to JS Academy. Moreover, expenditures amounting to Rs. 521 million were sanctioned for the People’s Bus Service project.
Transport Minister Shariq Memon provided an update on the People’s Bus Service project, informing the cabinet that the government has deployed 230 operational buses with plans to introduce 20 more and procure an additional 40 buses. The project, initiated in October 2021, has received subsidies totaling Rs. 968 million from April 2023 to February 2024, facilitating affordable public transportation for the people of Sindh.
