The matches will be aired live on Facebook Paid Online Events, which will help PCB commercialise the events by forcing fans to pay a modest one-time sign-up charge to view the live broadcast. The broadcast can be watched with a one-time payment.

PCB Head of Broadcast Rights and Business Development, Shoaib Naveed said, “Providing fans ease of access and enhancing the viewership of Pakistan cricket globally is a main feature of our broadcast strategy and part of the PCB overall Digital Transformation aims”.

“This relationship with Facebook for the remaining HBL PSL 6 matches has presented us with a unique platform, and it’s fantastic to be partnering with the world’s largest social media platform,” he added.

Facebook’s sports partnerships team works directly with PCB and other organisations in Pakistan “to assist them reach their fan growth and engagement, as well as revenue goals utilising Facebook’s platform and products,” according to an official statement.

Aside from Paid Online Events, the social media company is collaborating with PCB to develop a variety of on-platform business opportunities and player safety features.

In this context, in March 2021, the company sponsored a training programme for the Pakistan women’s national team to help them understand and unleash the potential of online presence as well as the required safety precautions.
