Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has taken steps to enhance the freelance ecosystem by streamlining the establishment of e-Rozgar Centers nationwide. Designed to offer vital support and resources to freelancers and startups, these centers are set to play a pivotal role in nurturing digital entrepreneurship across Pakistan.

PSEB has initiated the process by issuing Expression of Interest (EoI) notices, inviting individuals and companies to participate. Detailed project descriptions, objectives, and evaluation criteria are outlined in the EoI documents, disseminated through various channels including local newspapers, PPRA channels, and social media platforms.

Following the receipt of applications, an independent committee will carefully shortlist suitable buildings for the centers. Selected building owners will have the opportunity to apply for interest-free loans provided by PSEB, covering the establishment expenses.

Developers stand to benefit from substantial interest-free loans of up to Rs. 10 million, with a two-year repayment window facilitated by PSEB. During this period, PSEB will cover the interest, easing financial burdens and enabling business growth. Additionally, developers will receive free training through Digi Skill and Ignite’s Learning Management System (LMS) to enhance their skills.

To further support the initiative, PSEB will provide free marketing assistance to e-Rozgar Centers and cover trainers’ expenses at a rate of Rs. 20,000 per month per center.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Information Technology and PSEB, aims to establish 10,000 e-Rozgar Centers nationwide, serving as dedicated workspaces for freelancers and startups. Operating on a public-private partnership model, these centers aim to overcome financial barriers and foster a thriving digital entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Dr. Umar Saif, Minister for IT and Telecom, underscored the transformative potential of e-Rozgar Centers in revolutionizing Pakistan’s digital landscape, envisioning subsidized co-working spaces that will drive economic growth and innovation.
