Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan has joined an international roundtable in Baku on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the functioning of constitutional courts, where Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan delivered a detailed address on the subject. The event is being held at the invitation of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Turkic World (TÜRK-AY), which granted the court observer status in July 2026. The participation of the court in the roundtable follows that decision, and it gives the institution a place at a gathering where judges and officials from several countries discuss how new technology can be used in constitutional justice.
The roundtable brought together heads, senior officials and judges of the constitutional courts of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Cyprus. The Registrar of the court, Muhammad Hafeez Ullah Khan, also attended, according to a press release. At the end of the event, the Chief Justice presented commemorative shields and gifts that reflect the cultural heritage of Pakistan to the participants. He also invited Dr. Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan, to visit Pakistan, and the invitation was accepted, which points to continued contact between the judicial institutions of the two countries after the roundtable.
Before the roundtable, the Chief Justice visited the Victory Monument and the memorial of the national leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, in Baku, where he laid floral wreaths. These visits formed part of the programme of the delegation in the city, and they were carried out ahead of the discussions on AI in constitutional courts. The press release did not describe the contents of the address in further detail, but it stated that the Chief Justice spoke at length on the role of AI in the work of constitutional courts, which was the main topic of the gathering.
The visit of the Chief Justice to Azerbaijan will continue until October 24. It is expected to improve judicial cooperation and the exchange of experience between the two countries. The invitation to the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan, together with the attendance of the Registrar and the participation of the court in the roundtable of TÜRK-AY, shows that the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan is building contacts with other constitutional courts, while the question of AI in the judiciary remains the central subject of its engagement in Baku this week.
