During a recent meeting, Syed Bilal Haider, Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), announced that the Punjab government has achieved a significant milestone by amassing tax revenue exceeding Rs 128 billion through the e-Pay Punjab platform. The meeting, which included Faisal Yousaf, Director General of IT operations for the PITB, highlighted the success of the online platform for the collection of government receipts.

Haider emphasized that the e-Pay Punjab app has revolutionized tax payment for residents, offering convenient online options for paying taxes on-the-go or from the comfort of their homes. The app has gained immense popularity, with over 2.5 million downloads to date. Impressively, the number of online transactions through e-Pay Punjab has surpassed 23.4 million.

The tax revenue breakdown revealed that the Punjab government received Rs 78 billion from sales tax, Rs 15.89 billion from token tax, Rs 15.52 billion from property tax, Rs 5.40 billion from traffic challans, and more than Rs 340 million from e-challans.

The success of e-Pay Punjab can be attributed to the collaboration between the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the Punjab Finance Department, and One Link. The user-friendly app allows online payment of 24 taxes and levies for 11 different government departments. Payment methods include ATM transactions, internet banking, mobile phone banking, and in-person visits to the nearest 1Link member banks. Additionally, users can utilize services from Jazz Cash, Easy Paisa, U-paisa, and other microfinance institutions to pay their taxes conveniently.

This achievement reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to harnessing technology for improved governance and enhanced taxpayer convenience, further bolstering the state’s financial resources.
