Tech Valley Pakistan has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pakistan Hockey Federation to support the digital transformation of the country’s national sport through AI, data and the Google ecosystem. Under the agreement, Tech Valley will serve as the digital transformation partner for PHF, helping introduce technology that can strengthen sports administration, support player development and enable more data driven performance analysis. The partnership brings a technology company into the day to day management of a national sports body, an area where digital tools and structured data have often been limited, and it positions technology as a practical support for the way hockey is run rather than a separate initiative.
The collaboration will focus on four main areas. The first is the adoption of Google Workspace, which is intended to streamline communication and collaboration across PHF and its regional associations, giving the federation and its provincial and district level bodies a shared platform for everyday coordination. The second is the creation of a centralised Digital Player Performance and Talent Database, designed to track players from club level all the way up to the National Team. A single database of this kind could give selectors and coaches a consistent record of a player’s progress over time, rather than relying on scattered or informal records from different regions, and it could make it easier to identify promising players early in their careers.
The third area involves AI and Google Cloud Analytics, which will be used to support performance and match analysis. This would allow coaches and analysts to review matches and player performance using data rather than observation alone, supporting more informed decisions about training, selection and tactics. The fourth area covers Google certification programmes and technology workshops for PHF staff, coaches and sports managers, so that the people responsible for running the sport are equipped to use the new systems effectively. Training for staff is an important part of the agreement, since digital tools deliver value only when the people using them understand how to apply them in their daily work, and the workshops are intended to build that capability across the federation.
Tech Valley said the collaboration brings technology and digital skills into the way hockey is managed in Pakistan, helping create a stronger foundation for talent development and informed decision making. The company added that it looks forward to supporting the federation as it takes important steps towards a more connected, data driven and digitally enabled future for Pakistani hockey. The announcement did not share a timeline for rollout or details on how the database and analytics tools will be introduced across regional associations, but the agreement sets out a clear direction for how PHF intends to modernise its administration and player development in the period ahead. As more sports bodies look to data and cloud tools to improve how they select and develop athletes, the partnership adds to a growing conversation about the role of technology in Pakistani sport, particularly at the level of national federations and regional associations.
