Tech Valley Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Punjab Office of AI to explore collaboration across responsible artificial intelligence, digital skills development, training, and capacity building, marking a significant institutional commitment to expanding meaningful artificial intelligence adoption across Punjab’s educational and professional landscape. The signing was joined by Timothy Paolini, Special Initiatives lead for the Middle East and North Africa at Google for Education, signalling international alignment with the initiative and reinforcing the shared focus on building the skills and institutional capacity that genuine artificial intelligence adoption requires at scale.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for collaboration across four interconnected areas. Artificial intelligence awareness and responsible technology use forms the first pillar, recognising that the foundation of any sustainable artificial intelligence ecosystem must begin with an informed and ethically grounded understanding of what the technology can and cannot do. Digital skills and capacity building follows as the second area, addressing the practical gap between awareness and capability that continues to limit artificial intelligence adoption across institutions, educators, and communities throughout the province.
The third pillar covers training and certifications, providing a structured pathway through which individuals can develop verifiable competencies that are recognised by employers and institutions. Practical artificial intelligence pilot initiatives round out the collaboration, ensuring that the partnership generates tangible on-the-ground outcomes rather than remaining at the level of policy discussion and orientation sessions.
The collaboration between Tech Valley Pakistan and the Punjab Office of AI builds directly on the momentum that Tech Valley has been generating across the province’s education ecosystem, including its work with Google for Education in deploying the Read Along application across Punjab Education Foundation partner schools, where Pakistan achieved the highest usage in the entire Asia-Pacific region. With the Punjab Office of AI now formalised as an institutional partner and Google for Education represented in the engagement, the initiative is positioned to connect artificial intelligence skill-building with the academic and government infrastructure needed to reach educators, students, and communities at the scale that Punjab’s size demands.
