Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has named Shaza Fatima Khawaja as the State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication. Khawaja was sworn in at the presidency, following the issuance of a notification by the Prime Minister’s office on March 12, 2024.

Khawaja’s appointment comes as part of a larger cabinet reshuffle, with Prime Minister Sharif recommending 19 names for his federal cabinet, including 12 National Assembly members and three senators.

She is the sole female member recommended for the federal cabinet, reflecting Sharif’s commitment to gender inclusion and advancing the IT sector. In line with this vision, Prime Minister Sharif has convened a meeting today at the PM House to discuss strategies for boosting IT exports.

A seasoned Pakistani politician, Khawaja has been serving as a Member of the National Assembly since June 2013. She previously held the position of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs and has a history of contributing to various parliamentary forums and ministries.

Khawaja’s re-election to the National Assembly in the 2024 general election underscores her continued dedication to public service and her party’s agenda for progress and development.
