In the first four months of FY23, Pakistan’s mobile imports fell by 65%.

In the first four months (July-October) of the current fiscal year 2022–23, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $226.051 million, a decrease of 64.94 percent from the $644.672 million imported during the same period of the previous year.

According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), mobile phone imports increased monthly (MoM) by 12.62 percent from $58.407 million in September 2022 to $65.780 million in October 2022.
In October 2022, mobile phone imports decreased by $56.06% on a year-over-year (YoY) basis from $149.712 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.

In the first four months of the fiscal year 2022–23, the total amount of telecom imports into the nation was $345.677 million, a decrease of 59.17% from the $846.573 million imported during the same period the previous fiscal year.

However, when compared to October 2021–2022, the total telecom imports experienced a negative growth rate of 53.62 percent, coming in at $96.805 million, down from $208.699 million. On a month-over-month basis, total telecom imports increased by 22.78 percent in October 2022 from $78.846 million in September 2022.

Other apparatus imports decreased by 40.75 percent from $201.901 million in July through October of the previous fiscal year to $119.626 million in July through October of 2022.

Other apparatus remained at $31.025 million in October 2022, representing a growth of 51.79 percent month over month compared to $20.439 million in September 2022, and a growth of 47.40 percent when compared to $58.987 million in October 2021.
