The Punjab Information Technology Board has successfully expanded the eBiz Punjab digital portal, developing it into a comprehensive single window platform aimed at facilitating business activity across the province. The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s broader push toward digital governance, with the portal now consolidating a wide range of business related government services into one centralized online system, reducing the need for entrepreneurs and business owners to navigate multiple departments separately when seeking approvals or completing regulatory processes.
According to figures shared by PITB, the platform has digitized 282 business services, a scale that reflects a substantial consolidation of previously fragmented, department specific processes into a single accessible portal. The eBiz Punjab system has received 80,185 applications to date, of which 67,542 have already been processed, representing an 84 percent processing rate. The platform maintains a maximum turnaround time of 15 days for application processing, giving businesses a predictable timeline for approvals rather than the extended and often unpredictable waiting periods associated with traditional, paper based bureaucratic procedures. The portal has also facilitated the collection of 6.2 billion rupees through its digital payment infrastructure, pointing to meaningful transaction volume moving through the system since its rollout.
The eBiz initiative is designed around several core objectives that PITB has tied to the Punjab government’s commitment toward digital transformation, including faster service delivery, greater ease of doing business, and improved facilitation for the province’s business community. The platform incorporates transparent digital approval and payment mechanisms, allowing businesses to track their applications and complete financial transactions without needing to visit physical government offices. This approach aligns with a broader pattern across Punjab’s public sector digitization efforts, where PITB has increasingly positioned technology as the primary mechanism for improving citizen and business facing government services across multiple departments.
By bringing together services from across several government departments into a unified digital interface, PITB has framed the eBiz Punjab expansion as part of a larger goal of building a smarter, faster and more prosperous Punjab. The initiative continues a trend seen across several PITB led digital governance projects in recent years, where the board has worked to modernize administrative processes ranging from business registration to citizen services, with an emphasis on reducing processing delays, improving transparency and expanding access to essential government functions through digital platforms available to the wider business community.
