The government of KP plans to issue education cards to low-income students

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is preparing to introduce Education Cards, which will be similar to the Health Card scheme, for the province’s impoverished but brilliant and worthy children, allowing them to receive quality education in any Pakistani school.

On Sunday, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) on Higher Education and Information, Kamran Bangash, announced the development at a ceremony in Peshawar hosted by the Higher Education Department (HED) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Quality Assurance Awards and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) capacity building programme.

 

Kamran Bangash, the primary guest at the occasion, announced that law colleges will be established in seven divisions of KP, and pledged to offer more cash and facilities to 30 to 40 model colleges selected from the province’s key colleges. He did not, however, elaborate on the selection criteria.


The SACM also declared that, from next year, provincial rankings will be conducted in conjunction with the Quality Assurance team for the KP’s institutions and colleges.

The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Dawood Khan, as the guest of honor. Parliamentary Secretary of KP Assembly on Higher Education, Ayesha Bano, Managing Director QAA HEC, Dr. Shafiq Ur Rahman, Advisor Quality Assurance HED, Imran Ullah Marwat Director Quality Assurance HED, Ihsan Ullah, Additional Secretary Universities HED, the vice-chancellors of the KP public sector universities, the principals and faculty members of the colleges and universities of KP, and officials from the HEC were was also present at the occasion.
