YTO-HRL Logistics, a China-Pakistan joint venture between YTO Express and HRL Group, was officially launched in Islamabad following a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Beijing last year. The initiative aims to establish a modern, technology-driven logistics and supply chain platform connecting Pakistan with China, Central Asia, and wider international markets. The formal launch marks the transition of the partnership from an agreement on paper to an operational commercial entity, with the founding organisations bringing complementary capabilities to a venture designed to address some of the most persistent inefficiencies in Pakistan’s cross-border trade infrastructure.
Speaking at the launch, Zeeshan Qureshi, Director of YTO, said the venture is not merely a courier service but a comprehensive logistics platform designed to transform trade flows. He said it will offer ultra-fast cargo and freight services, bonded warehousing, artificial intelligence-powered tracking systems, customs facilities, and end-to-end supply chain solutions for importers and exporters. He added that the platform will reduce trade costs, strengthen cross-border commerce with China and beyond, and position Pakistan as a regional gateway to Central Asian markets. The inclusion of artificial intelligence-powered tracking as a core feature of the platform signals that YTO-HRL is building toward a data-driven logistics model rather than a conventional courier service, giving clients real-time visibility over shipments across complex multi-country routes.
Khalid Taimur Akram, who is currently hosting Chinese business-to-business investments in Pakistan, said the venture combines YTO Express’s global logistics expertise with HRL Group’s local infrastructure and market presence. The joint venture is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency, support e-commerce growth, create skilled employment, and strengthen Pakistan’s position as a regional logistics hub. YTO Express, one of China’s largest express delivery companies with an established international network spanning dozens of countries, brings proven operational infrastructure and technology to the partnership, while HRL Group contributes the local market knowledge, relationships, and ground-level presence that are essential for navigating Pakistan’s regulatory and commercial environment.
The launch of YTO-HRL Logistics arrives at a time when Pakistan is actively working to leverage its geographic position as a transit corridor between China, Central Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework has laid significant physical infrastructure across this corridor, but the logistics services layer that enables businesses to fully exploit that infrastructure has remained underdeveloped relative to the scale of the opportunity. A technology-enabled, end-to-end logistics platform with the backing of a major Chinese express delivery operator and local institutional support has the potential to meaningfully improve the cost, speed, and reliability of cross-border trade flows through Pakistan, supporting both export growth and the country’s broader ambition to establish itself as a preferred regional logistics and transit hub.
