Pakistan’s startup ecosystem is once again stepping up to tackle the country’s pressing waste management challenges as 2nd Life.pk launches its second cohort with an expanded mission. Building on the success of its inaugural cycle, this innovative initiative, originally founded through a collaboration between Unilever Pakistan and SEED Ventures, has now joined forces with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to address waste management issues across a broader spectrum of industries.

The program, which initially focused on plastic waste, is now venturing into textiles, food, agriculture, packaging, electronics, paper, construction materials, and more. With this widened scope, 2nd Life.pk aims to empower startups, researchers, and organizations dedicated to redefining waste management practices in Pakistan, giving waste a renewed purpose while fostering a sustainable future.

“The response to our first cohort was overwhelming,” said the program’s organizers. “This year, we’re going beyond plastics. Our mission is to inspire innovation and tackle waste challenges across multiple industries. Together, let’s redefine waste management and turn waste into a valuable resource.”

Applications are now open for the second cohort, inviting passionate individuals, entrepreneurs, and organizations to join the movement. Participants will gain access to a dynamic platform offering mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities to help refine and scale their ideas. The initiative also provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with changemakers from various sectors and industries.

The program’s relaunch underscores the growing awareness of Pakistan’s waste management crisis and the critical need for innovative solutions. By expanding its focus, 2nd Life.pk aims to act as a catalyst for progress in waste management while inspiring a new generation of sustainability leaders.

Startups and organizations participating in the initiative will play a vital role in transforming waste into valuable resources, promoting environmental sustainability, and paving the way for a cleaner and greener Pakistan.
