The Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority and Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited have officially signed a technical training agreement, aimed at modernizing technical education and expanding opportunities for young people across the province. According to details shared by the two organizations, the partnership is intended to upgrade technical facilities and provide industry-aligned practical skills training across B-TEVTA’s network of institutes.
The agreement was formally signed by Managing Director B-TEVTA, Abdul Kabeer Khan Zarkoon, and Deputy Managing Director of Pak Suzuki Motor Company, Yoshitaka Oishi. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Secretary Labour and Manpower Department, Saleh Muhammad Nasir, alongside B-TEVTA Directors, Assistant Directors, and senior officials from Pak Suzuki, bringing together representation from both the provincial government and the automotive company at the signing. The involvement of senior figures from both sides suggests the agreement is being treated as a significant institutional commitment rather than a minor operational arrangement.
Under the initial phase of the agreement, Pak Suzuki has provided 12 modern automobile engines to various B-TEVTA technical training institutes. This initiative ensures that students in the auto-mechanic trade receive hands-on practical experience on contemporary engines rather than relying solely on theoretical education, addressing a common gap in technical training programs where students may otherwise learn concepts without direct exposure to the kind of equipment they would encounter in an actual automotive workplace. Providing updated engines directly to training institutes also removes the need for students to rely on outdated or donated equipment that may no longer reflect current vehicle technology. Going forward, Pak Suzuki will also conduct specialized capacity-building training programs for B-TEVTA’s auto-mechanic instructors. These training sessions will keep the teaching staff updated on the latest technological advancements in the automotive industry, ensuring that the knowledge being passed on to students reflects current industry practices rather than outdated techniques. Training instructors directly, rather than only providing equipment, suggests the partnership is designed to have a lasting impact on the quality of instruction at B-TEVTA institutes well beyond the initial donation of engines, since updated instructor knowledge continues to benefit multiple cohorts of students over time.
Both organizations expressed their commitment to maintaining a long-term strategic collaboration to further strengthen technical education and employment opportunities for the youth of Balochistan. The agreement adds to a broader pattern of private sector companies partnering with provincial vocational training authorities to align technical education more closely with industry needs, an approach that can help ensure graduates of programs like B-TEVTA’s auto-mechanic trade are better prepared for employment in Pakistan’s automotive and manufacturing sectors upon completing their training. For a province like Balochistan, where access to specialized technical training and industry partnerships has historically been more limited compared to other parts of the country, an agreement of this kind could offer students a more direct pathway into skilled employment within the automotive sector.
