Google Pixel owners are reporting a range of problems following the rollout of Android 17 QPR1, the first major update for Google’s latest mobile operating system. The update began rolling out on September 15 to compatible Pixel devices ranging from the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL down to the Pixel 6. While the quarterly release was expected to address some of the bugs found in the initial Android 17 launch, a user poll suggests that many Pixel owners have experienced new issues after installing it.

Android Authority’s poll found that around 68% of respondents reported encountering new problems after installing Android 17 QPR1, while 32% said they had not experienced any fresh issues. The most commonly reported problem was reduced performance, followed by unexpected user interface behaviour, display glitches and connectivity failures. Android Authority said nearly 1,000 of the 1,458 respondents who had participated in the poll at the time were reporting problems associated with the update.

Performance issues accounted for the largest share of reported problems, with around 19% of respondents saying their devices had experienced performance-related difficulties. Another 16% reported unexpected user interface behaviour, while 14% encountered new display glitches. More than 11% reported connectivity problems, while around 7% selected other issues that did not fall into the listed categories. Previous reports surrounding Android 17 have also included Wi-Fi problems, mobile connectivity failures and touchscreen issues on some Pixel devices.

However, the survey results should not be interpreted as meaning that 68% of all Pixel users are affected. Users experiencing problems are more likely to participate in an online troubleshooting poll, meaning the results may overrepresent those encountering difficulties. Tech Advisor also noted that the most common individual response was that QPR1 had not caused new problems. Google is expected to continue addressing issues through subsequent updates, with Android 17 QPR2 anticipated to bring further fixes. Until then, Pixel owners who have not installed QPR1 may want to consider waiting if they are concerned about potential stability problems.
