The Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme continued to expand its reach across Pakistan as of October 1, 2026, with more than 8.4 million successful registrations, over 12.2 million tokens generated, and more than 10.3 million tokens redeemed. The figures mark continued growth for the programme, which had already surpassed one million registrations within its first three days of launch, pointing to sustained momentum rather than a short lived initial surge in sign ups.

According to the latest update, the scheme has achieved an 84.4 percent redemption rate, reflecting the proportion of generated fuel tokens that citizens have actually used at participating fuel stations so far. A high redemption rate of this kind suggests that citizens who register and receive tokens are largely following through to claim the relief, rather than a significant share of generated tokens going unused, which would otherwise raise questions about whether the token issuance process was effectively reaching citizens who actually needed and wanted the relief.

The scheme has now entered its third week of operation, with all petrol pumps across the country providing the relief facility to eligible citizens. Achieving full nationwide coverage across petrol stations within three weeks of launch reflects a rapid rollout for a programme of this scale, requiring coordination between the Pakistan Digital Authority’s digital infrastructure, the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, and fuel station operators across the country to ensure the token redemption system functions consistently at every participating location, regardless of size or geographic remoteness. To support the scheme’s operations, a 24/7 call centre has also been made available to assist both citizens and petrol pump operators with any issues or questions related to registration, token generation, or redemption. Having round the clock support available suggests the programme’s administrators anticipated a steady volume of queries or technical issues that could arise at any time of day, given that fuel purchases and relief redemptions are not limited to standard business hours.

The continued growth in registrations, token generation, and redemptions points to sustained public engagement with the scheme since its launch, with the programme’s digital infrastructure, built by PDA in collaboration with OGRA, the Petroleum Division, and the State Bank of Pakistan, continuing to process a high volume of transactions across its third week of operation. As the scheme progresses, the combination of full nationwide petrol pump coverage and dedicated call centre support suggests the programme is now operating at a more mature, stable phase following its initial rapid rollout, with its registration and redemption figures continuing to climb as more eligible citizens sign up for the relief, and with the gap between tokens generated and tokens redeemed likely to narrow further as the scheme continues to mature.
