Telenor Pakistan has inaugurated its 7th cohort of the Naya Aghaz initiative to boost women’s reintegration into the workforce, in keeping with its commitment to workplace inclusion and diversity.

The Naya Aghaaz initiative, which began in 2014, was created to establish an innovative approach of obtaining talent with the goal of re-engaging women in the workforce and allowing them to re-invent themselves in their jobs.

During their 9-month employment, the latest batch of Naya Aghaaz colleagues will be employed in a variety of jobs, including gaming, growth hacking, segmentation, HR partnering, field operations, revenue assurance, tax accounting, and B2B enterprise solutions.
Since its start, Naya Aghaaz has opened doors to not only cater to an underserved part of the country’s bright workforce, but also to build a new pool of professional resources capable of overcoming hurdles and breaking stereotypes.
Telenor Pakistan has engaged a total of 105 colleagues since its debut, with a 40% conversion rate.

Speaking to the press on the occasion, Chief Human Resource Officer, Telenor Pakistan, Oystein Bakken, said, “We work outside the box, we work together and we strive to come up with new and practical opportunities that promote social development and the betterment of every individual, irrespective of gender.”

“It’s our responsibility as an influential organization to set the bar high when it comes to inclusion, both within and outside the workplace. Inclusion of women specifically holds the potential to have far-reaching social impacts that empower them to make significant contributions to the socio-economic development of their families and communities,” he added.

“As we have seen in the past, we hope to see more companies take inspiration from Telenor Pakistan in creating workplace cultures that empower women to get back to work and thrive in leadership roles,” Bakken further said.

Telenor Pakistan, a company known for its progressive ideals, has developed a variety of programmes over the years that provide women with the tools they need to thrive.

As part of the Girls Learn, Women Earn project, the network worked with the World Bank to educate over 1,100 women entrepreneurs on design thinking skills last year, as it continues to motivate women to take on positions in our society that contribute to the country’s socio-economic growth.
In addition to the upskilling provided by the programme, Telenor Pakistan also provides mental health counselling, tailored learning calendars, mentorships, placement help, flexible employment, and a Naya Aghaaz alumni network, to mention a few.
The organization is committed to providing realistic employment opportunities and training to women in order to better their career possibilities and prepare them for the world we live in now and in the future.
