The event, held on October 9, brought together key figures from the Ministry of IT & Telecom, PASHA leadership, and representatives from the technology industry, reflecting the strong collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing Pakistan’s digital economy.

The gathering was attended by Federal Ministry of IT & Telecom representative Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, who acknowledged Abu Bakar’s role in promoting Pakistan’s IT industry on global platforms and expanding opportunities for local software companies. PASHA Chairman Sajjad Syed, Senior Vice Chairman Umair Nizam, Vice Chairman Raheel Iqbal, Treasurer Haris Naseer, Secretary General Ali Hasani, and CEC members Abdul Wahab, Salman Dar, Sheikh Abdul Qadir, and Dr. Sonia Saleem were present, alongside Former PASHA Chairman Zohaib Khan and other industry professionals. The event provided a platform for leaders from both government and industry to reflect on the progress achieved during Abu Bakar’s tenure and reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.

During the ceremony, Abu Bakar expressed appreciation for the trust and support extended to him by both the industry and government stakeholders. He acknowledged the collective efforts that had driven the IT sector’s growth and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between PSEB, PASHA, and the Ministry of IT & Telecom to sustain momentum in software exports and technology development. Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, in her remarks, appreciated Abu Bakar’s dedication and leadership in steering PSEB’s initiatives toward greater impact. PASHA Chairman Sajjad Syed and Senior Vice Chairman Umair Nizam also extended their gratitude for his service, emphasizing the significance of partnership-driven growth within Pakistan’s technology sector.

As a token of appreciation, Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja presented a commemorative shield to Abu Bakar on behalf of PASHA and the Ministry, acknowledging his valuable contribution to advancing the national technology agenda. Former Chairman Zohaib Khan and Treasurer Haris Naseer also commended his role in strengthening institutional frameworks and facilitating collaboration between government bodies and the private sector. The farewell event concluded with a spirit of gratitude and optimism, as attendees expressed their commitment to continuing joint efforts for promoting Pakistan’s IT exports, nurturing emerging talent, and expanding the country’s presence in global technology markets. The evening served as both a recognition of past achievements and a reaffirmation of the shared vision to keep driving innovation and digital progress under the Tech Destination Pakistan initiative.
