DxVision, a faculty spin-off from the National University of Sciences and Technology, has won the Pakistan IT-enabled Exports Startups Award in the Artificial Intelligence category, an accolade presented by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in recognition of technology startups demonstrating strong potential for driving information technology-enabled exports from the country.
The company was co-founded by Dr. Asad Mansoor Khan, Dr. Anum Abdul Salam, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman Akram, all faculty members from the NUST College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The win reflects the growing momentum of deep-tech ventures emerging from Pakistan’s public university research ecosystem, where faculty-led startups are increasingly translating academic work into commercially viable and globally relevant products. DxVision’s recognition in the Artificial Intelligence category is particularly notable given the competitive field of technology companies vying for the award across multiple sectors.
The startup is currently developing generative Artificial Intelligence-based applications designed to accelerate the analysis of tissue samples, a capability with significant implications for diagnostic medicine and pathology workflows. Working alongside research partners BIOMISA Lab and NIDI Skin USA, DxVision is building tools that could reduce the time and expertise required to interpret complex biological specimens, potentially making high-quality diagnostic analysis more accessible in clinical settings where specialist resources are limited. Generative Artificial Intelligence applied to tissue and pathology imaging is an area attracting growing global attention, with researchers and health technology companies exploring how the technology can improve accuracy, throughput, and early detection rates in disease diagnosis. DxVision’s placement in this space, backed by NUST’s research infrastructure and international research partnerships, positions the venture as one of the more substantive Artificial Intelligence healthcare efforts to emerge from Pakistan’s university-linked startup pipeline.
