The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a dedicated feature within its Public Safety App to enhance the safety and security of private security guards working across the province. Launched under the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the initiative leverages digital technology to provide guards with immediate access to emergency assistance while improving coordination between frontline security personnel and law enforcement agencies. The new feature reflects Punjab’s continued efforts to modernize public safety through technology-driven solutions that enable faster emergency response and strengthen security infrastructure.
Under the new system, security guards can register themselves through the Public Safety App by submitting their basic personal information along with details of their assigned duty location. Once registered, users gain access to a dedicated emergency alert function that can be activated with a single tap whenever they encounter a security threat or emergency situation. Upon activation, the system instantly transmits the guard’s registered profile and live GPS location to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s central control room, allowing operators to quickly assess the situation and dispatch the nearest Police Emergency 15 response team without delay.
The feature has been designed to reduce response times and improve situational awareness during emergencies. Since the control room receives both the guard’s location and identification details in real time, emergency responders can verify the incident more efficiently and coordinate assistance with greater accuracy. The digital integration also minimizes communication delays that often occur during conventional emergency reporting methods, ensuring that security personnel working at commercial buildings, residential communities, industrial facilities and other sensitive locations can receive timely support whenever required.
The initiative builds upon Punjab’s broader digital public safety ecosystem, where the Public Safety App has gradually evolved into a comprehensive platform offering multiple citizen services. Recent additions such as QR-based panic buttons for public transport, digital complaint management, emergency calling, live location sharing and real-time police coordination demonstrate the province’s continued investment in technology-enabled policing. By extending specialized safety features to private security guards, the government is expanding the reach of these digital services to another critical segment responsible for protecting people and property throughout the province.
Officials believe the latest enhancement will strengthen collaboration between private security personnel and law enforcement agencies while improving overall public safety. As Punjab continues to integrate digital technologies into policing and emergency response, initiatives like the new security guard feature highlight how mobile platforms, location intelligence and real-time communication can improve operational efficiency and deliver faster assistance during emergencies. The move also reinforces the province’s vision of building a smarter, more connected and technology-driven public safety framework capable of responding effectively to the evolving security needs of citizens.
