The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is working with a private bank to introduce a mobile application-based cashless payment system for all passport and immigration fees, removing the need for cash transactions at offices and bringing the country’s passport services in line with the government’s wider push toward digitising public service delivery.
A delegation from the private bank met Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa to discuss the implementation of a cashless payment infrastructure across immigration service points nationwide. Under the proposed system, citizens will pay their passport and immigration fees directly through a dedicated mobile application, allowing them to complete financial transactions without visiting a bank branch or bringing cash to government offices. The private bank has already begun developing the technical infrastructure required to support the digital payment model across relevant government service locations, and both immigration officials and bank representatives have agreed on a final rollout mechanism aligned with the government’s broader cashless Pakistan vision. Director General Randhawa stated that promoting digital payments would make service delivery faster, more transparent, and more accessible for citizens seeking passport-related services, and officials confirmed that the public will be provided with easy, secure, and modern payment facilities as part of wider efforts to digitise all government services.
In a separate but related development, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has issued a public warning about a fraudulent individual misusing the Google Maps listing of the Regional Passport Office located in G-10, Islamabad. The individual has listed personal contact details, including a phone number and email address, on the online location and is unlawfully demanding payments through JazzCash and bank accounts from unsuspecting citizens who contact the number believing it to be an official government helpline. Citizens have been strongly advised not to share personal information with any such individual and to avoid making payments in response to unsolicited requests or communications that claim to be from passport office staff. All passport-related information and assistance should be sought exclusively through official channels, and citizens requiring support can contact the DGIP helpline directly at 051-111-344-777.
