The federal government has announced a significant initiative aimed at empowering Pakistan’s technology workforce by offering financial support for international IT certifications. Through the Ministry of IT & Telecom in collaboration with Pakistan Software Export Board under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, eligible IT graduates and professionals will be reimbursed up to Rs. 70,000 for completing approved international certifications in high-demand technology fields. The move is designed to strengthen Pakistan’s IT talent pool, making it more competitive in global markets and better equipped to meet industry needs.

This program focuses on certifications in advanced and emerging technology domains such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and other specialized areas that are increasingly critical to digital transformation across industries. By subsidizing the cost of internationally recognized credentials, the government aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and market-ready technical expertise. The reimbursements will be available to candidates who successfully complete approved certification programs, ensuring that the investment directly translates into skill enhancement. The emphasis on globally accepted standards not only helps professionals secure better employment opportunities but also strengthens Pakistan’s reputation as a growing hub for skilled IT resources.

In addition to enabling individuals to advance their careers, the scheme is expected to contribute to the country’s broader digital economy ambitions. Pakistan’s IT exports have been on an upward trajectory, and developing a workforce that meets international benchmarks is seen as vital to sustaining this momentum. By aligning training and certification support with the needs of global technology sectors, the program also addresses the skills shortage faced by both domestic and international employers. It reflects a strategic investment in human capital that can support innovation, attract foreign investment, and expand Pakistan’s footprint in high-value digital services.

The Ministry of IT & Telecom and PSEB have positioned this initiative as a long-term effort to make professional upskilling more accessible. For many IT graduates and professionals, the cost of international certifications has been a barrier to career advancement. With the government now providing substantial reimbursements, a larger segment of the workforce can pursue these credentials without financial strain. As global demand for skilled professionals in AI, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies continues to grow, this policy is poised to enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness while equipping its talent with capabilities aligned to international market trends.
