Google has announced a new student offer providing eligible college students outside the United States with one year of Google AI Plus at no cost. The offer is being introduced as part of Google’s latest expansion of Gemini tools for education and gives students access to additional artificial intelligence capabilities that can support studying, research and academic organization. Google said eligible students in more than 140 markets can claim the offer, although availability varies by market and certain countries and regions are excluded. In the United States, eligible college students are instead being offered one year of Google AI Pro for free.

For students outside the United States, Google AI Plus includes access to Gemini Omni, higher usage limits in Gemini and 400 GB of storage. The company said eligible students can redeem the offer until December 31, 2026, with a valid payment method required during sign up. After the promotional period ends, the Google AI Plus plan will automatically move to the applicable monthly price unless the subscription is cancelled. For students in the United States, the Google AI Pro offer includes higher Gemini usage limits, access to additional Gemini capabilities, integration with Google applications such as Gmail and Google Docs, and 5 TB of storage.

Alongside the subscription offer, Google has introduced a dedicated student hub within the Gemini application. The hub brings together several learning tools, allowing students to create study notebooks, flashcards and practice quizzes from one place. Google’s study notebooks can use uploaded class materials such as lecture notes to create structured learning plans, identify knowledge gaps through diagnostic quizzes and generate smaller lessons and quizzes based on individual study requirements. Google is also adding the ability for Gemini to use syllabus information to schedule important dates, including examinations and assignment deadlines, in Google Calendar with the student’s permission.

Google is also expanding Gemini’s interactive learning and research features for students. Interactive visualizations can generate functional three dimensional simulations and other visual elements to help explain subjects that may be difficult to understand through text alone. Gemini Live is also receiving Deep Research capabilities, allowing students to request multi step research reports and subsequently discuss the results through a conversational interface. Google said the student hub, study notebooks, interactive visualizations and Deep Research in Gemini Live are rolling out to Gemini users. The new student offer and education focused tools give college students additional ways to use Gemini for organizing coursework, understanding academic concepts and conducting research throughout the academic year.
