Thousands of matriculation students across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing difficulties obtaining domicile certificates after the province’s online application system experienced repeated disruptions. The digital portal has reportedly remained unreliable for several days, creating problems for students who need domicile certificates for admission and other post-matriculation requirements. The system began experiencing issues after a sharp increase in applications following the announcement of matriculation examination results, with the surge in traffic reportedly overwhelming the portal’s capacity.

Students and their families have reported that the online system either fails to open or becomes unresponsive while applications are being processed. In several cases where applicants manage to access the portal, the process reportedly stops at the biometric verification stage, preventing students from completing their applications. The disruption has created additional difficulties for students who are already dealing with deadlines and administrative requirements following the announcement of their examination results. The online system was intended to provide a convenient way for applicants to submit domicile applications without having to make repeated visits to government offices, but the ongoing technical problems have limited its usefulness during a period of high demand.

With the digital portal remaining unreliable, students and parents have reportedly been forced to seek alternative channels to complete the domicile process. Some applicants have approached courts and government offices in person to submit applications or obtain information about the status of pending requests. This has resulted in additional travel and administrative expenses for families who expected to complete the process through the provincial online system. The situation has also raised concerns about the capacity of government digital services to handle sudden increases in demand, particularly when large numbers of students need to access the same platform following the release of examination results.

The disruption highlights the importance of ensuring that public sector digital platforms can handle periods of unusually high traffic, particularly when they provide essential administrative services to students and citizens. Online government systems are increasingly being used to reduce paperwork and make public services more accessible, but technical failures can create significant difficulties when alternative processes are limited or require physical visits. No official timeline has so far been provided for the complete restoration of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa domicile system. Until the portal returns to stable operation, affected students may continue to face difficulties obtaining the certificates required for their next academic and administrative steps.
