The National Information Technology Board has rebranded the City Islamabad application as PakApp, giving the citizen-facing digital services platform a new identity along with a modernised user interface, improved navigation, and more effective features designed to make access to government digital services faster, easier, and more efficient for users across Pakistan. The rebrand, developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, represents a significant upgrade to one of the country’s primary digital citizen service platforms and reflects the ongoing push to consolidate government services within a single, user-friendly digital environment.

The transition from City Islamabad to PakApp signals a broader ambition beyond serving only the capital, with the new name suggesting a national scope that extends the platform’s reach and relevance beyond Islamabad to a wider base of Pakistani citizens seeking access to government services digitally. The upgraded application brings together public services within a structured and organised platform, removing the friction that has historically made navigating between different government service portals and applications a time-consuming and inconsistent experience for citizens.

NITB developed the application in its capacity as the government’s primary information technology implementation body, and the PakApp rebrand is consistent with its broader mandate to improve citizen experience through digital public service delivery. The updated interface has been designed with a clear focus on usability, ensuring that citizens who may not be highly familiar with digital tools can access the services they need without confusion or unnecessary steps. The improvements to navigation and the consolidation of services within one platform address two of the most commonly cited complaints from users of government applications, namely the difficulty of finding the right service and the inconsistency of the experience across different parts of the platform.

PakApp is available for download on Android at https://lnkd.in/dGusVVNX and on iOS at https://lnkd.in/dGVY38XG. The launch builds on a series of recent NITB digital governance initiatives including the Cabinet E-Portal, the e-Filing and Office Automation System rollout across district administrations, and the Memorandum of Understanding with Pakistan Single Window under the Digital Economy Enhancement Project, reflecting a consistent institutional direction toward building a paperless, citizen-centric, and digitally integrated government infrastructure for Pakistan.
