The National Database and Registration Authority has introduced tablet based counters at its Mega Centers in Karachi, aimed at making the CNIC process faster and more convenient for citizens. The new facility is designed to reduce long queues and save time for visitors completing various steps of the identity registration process.

Citizens visiting NADRA Mega Centers can now complete different stages of their applications more quickly through the tablet based counters rather than relying solely on traditional service windows. Visitors to the centers have welcomed the move, with several citizens noting that the CNIC process, which previously took considerable time to complete, can now be finished in a much shorter period.

The initiative adds to a broader push by NADRA to modernise its Mega Center network across Karachi, which currently includes more than 20 centers spread across the city, including well established facilities in DHA, North Nazimabad, and Safoora Chowrangi. Several of these centers already operate on a 24 hour basis, while others run extended hours from 8 AM to midnight to accommodate the city’s large population and steady demand for identity documents, birth and family registration certificates, and related services.

NADRA officials described the tablet counters as part of the authority’s continued efforts to improve public service delivery and provide better facilities at its busiest centers. The move follows a broader pattern of infrastructure upgrades NADRA has pursued across Karachi in recent years, including automated counters, extended operating hours, and dedicated passport processing counters established at select Mega Centers in coordination with the Passport Department.

NADRA is expected to continue introducing similar technology driven measures aimed at making its services faster, smoother, and more citizen friendly across the city. With Karachi’s population continuing to grow and demand for identity documentation remaining high, the tablet counters represent a further step in the authority’s ongoing effort to reduce wait times and modernise the citizen experience at its busiest registration centers nationwide.
