Instagram Brings Teleprompter Tool to Main Camera for Video Creators

Instagram has expanded one of its most requested creator tools by bringing the in-stream teleprompter feature from its standalone Edits app directly into the main Instagram camera, making it accessible to a significantly wider base of content creators without requiring a separate application. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri announced the change on his Instagram Channel, explaining that creators can now add a script that scrolls while they record, describing it as helpful for staying on message without doing a large number of takes.

The tool works in a straightforward way. Creators upload their video script, which then displays as rolling text right below the front-facing camera. As a result, presenters can look directly at the lens instead of glancing off to the side to read notes, a small but meaningful change that makes videos feel more natural and improves the flow and confidence of delivery. Creators can also control the teleprompter speed, adjusting how fast the script scrolls to match their personal speaking pace. The ability to fine-tune scroll speed is particularly important for creators who work across different content formats, from fast-paced entertainment Reels to slower, more information-dense educational videos, where a fixed scrolling speed would quickly become a limitation.

Instagram first added the in-stream teleprompter to its Edits app in June 2025. Bringing it to the main app now extends the feature to a much wider creator base. The update fits a broader pattern at Instagram, with the platform steadily adding creator-focused tools to the main app rather than keeping them inside Edits. Recent moves include new artificial intelligence creator labels in May 2026 and an algorithm update in April 2026 designed to benefit original creators. Together these changes reflect Instagram’s consistent strategy of reducing friction for video content makers and giving them professional-grade tools directly within the platform they already use daily, rather than requiring them to learn and manage a separate workflow in a secondary application.

Many influencers and creators film talking-head Reels for product reviews, education, and commentary. Reading a script directly from the camera helps them produce cleaner videos faster, without expensive third-party apps or external teleprompter hardware. The feature is rolling out within the main Instagram app now, and creators who do not see it yet should update to the latest version of the app. For Pakistan’s growing community of Instagram creators, who increasingly rely on the platform for brand collaborations, educational content, and audience building across Urdu and English-language formats, the native teleprompter removes a practical barrier that has historically pushed professional-looking scripted content out of reach for creators without access to dedicated filming setups or equipment.
