Huawei Powers Digital Transformation of Gilgit-Baltistan Police with Smart Communication Systems

Huawei’s ongoing partnership with the Gilgit-Baltistan Police has marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of Phase 1 of a multi-phase digital transformation initiative aimed at enhancing law enforcement communication capabilities in the region. As part of this ambitious project, Huawei has deployed its cutting-edge IdeaHub devices across several key locations in Gilgit-Baltistan, enabling secure, seamless, and modern collaboration within the police force.

The implementation of Huawei’s IdeaHub — an intelligent office solution that integrates cloud conferencing, interactive whiteboarding, and wireless projection — has already begun to deliver tangible improvements in operational efficiency. These devices have been fully activated and are now being used to facilitate smarter internal communication, streamlined coordination, and enhanced productivity among law enforcement officers stationed across remote and urban areas alike.

During a recent review meeting between stakeholders, attention shifted toward the next critical stage of the initiative — Phase 2 — which is set to be rolled out in the coming months. The second phase of the project focuses on deploying a robust, secure video conferencing infrastructure that will transition the force from cloud-based meeting systems to on-premises solutions. This change is driven by the necessity to adhere to stringent information security standards while ensuring that communication systems remain highly reliable and resilient.

According to project leads, Phase 2 will be completed by July 2025, with full-scale deployment of secure, localized conferencing capabilities across various units of the Gilgit-Baltistan Police. This move will ensure that sensitive information shared during internal communications remains protected from potential cyber threats and external vulnerabilities, aligning with modern standards for public safety and data governance.

This initiative is emblematic of a broader strategy to modernize law enforcement through digital transformation and smart governance. Huawei, through its technology partner Awan Distribution, continues to provide strategic support to ensure the seamless execution of the transformation roadmap.
