A one-day AI hackathon titled Build with AI: Mini Hackathon – Karachi is scheduled to take place on May 31, 2025, at Folio3, located on Shahrah-e-Faisal. Organized by GDG Kolachi (Google Developer Group Kolachi), the event brings together developers, tech enthusiasts, and aspiring AI builders to collaborate and create innovative solutions using Google’s Generative AI tools.

Participants will form teams and build working minimum viable products (MVPs) using cutting-edge technology such as the Gemini API. The hackathon is designed to be highly accessible, requiring no prior AI experience, making it a suitable opportunity for beginners and intermediate-level developers to explore the world of generative AI. The primary goal is to enable fast-paced, hands-on experimentation with real-time guidance from industry mentors and AI experts.

What sets this hackathon apart is the collaborative environment it fosters. Teams will ideate, code, and present their AI-powered MVPs within a single day, offering a high-intensity format that blends learning with execution. Throughout the event, mentors from leading tech companies will be available to provide one-on-one support, helping teams refine their ideas and troubleshoot technical challenges as they build and deploy AI-driven solutions.

Folio3, known for its active engagement in Pakistan’s technology ecosystem, is serving as the venue host. This location, situated at the heart of Karachi’s tech corridor, is expected to bring together talent from universities, local startups, and established tech firms. With Google’s backing through the GDG Kolachi community, the hackathon is aligned with the global momentum towards democratizing AI tools and making them more approachable for emerging developers and entrepreneurs.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with Google’s AI tools, particularly Gemini API, which represents the latest in generative artificial intelligence. The use of Gemini will allow developers to integrate natural language processing, content generation, and other advanced AI capabilities directly into their prototypes. By the end of the hackathon, teams will pitch their MVPs, showcasing how generative AI can be applied to solve real-world problems, automate workflows, or enhance user experiences.

The event also aims to foster peer-to-peer learning and spark future collaborations. Developers interested in AI innovation will get a unique opportunity to learn from seasoned mentors, network with fellow participants, and receive feedback on their work in a supportive environment.

GDG Kolachi’s initiative reflects the growing enthusiasm for AI and developer-driven innovation in Pakistan. Events like this not only nurture local talent but also highlight the potential for advanced technologies like generative AI to be utilized in various sectors, from software development to education and business automation.

As AI continues to shape the future of technology, community-driven events such as the Build with AI Mini Hackathon demonstrate how grassroots developer networks are playing a critical role in bringing cutting-edge innovation to the local tech scene.
