Applications are now open for Digital Sahafat 3.0, an initiative by Google in partnership with Tech Valley, aimed at strengthening digital reporting skills with a focus on artificial intelligence among journalists, journalism faculty, and media students. The application deadline is set for August 8, 2026.

Selected participants will join two-day online training sessions of three hours each, held in Pakistan Standard Time during August. Eligibility is open to journalists with one to two years of experience, journalism and media faculty members, and journalism and media students from across Pakistan, extending the program’s reach beyond working professionals to include educators and students still completing their academic training.

The initiative follows an earlier Train the Trainer session held under the Digital Sahafat 3.0 program, which brought together more than 20 master trainers from leading media organizations, including Jang and Geo Media Group, SAMAA TV, Nukta Pakistan, and academic institutions, to build capacity in delivering AI focused journalism training. That session covered tools including Gemini, NotebookLM, Gemini Canvas, and Google Veo, laying the groundwork for the broader cohort now being recruited.

The program builds on earlier phases of Digital Sahafat, which have already trained 4,000 media professionals and students in advanced AI competencies, according to a case study previously highlighted by the Google News Initiative. With applications now open for the newest cohort, Tech Valley and Google continue to expand a structured pipeline for equipping Pakistan’s journalism sector with practical AI skills, aiming to build what organizers describe as a new generation of journalists equipped to lead in the digital era.
