The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, in collaboration with Pakistan Digital Authority, has concluded another session in Islamabad under the nationwide Digital Sectoral Plan for the Healthcare Sector. With Dr Naeem Majeed facilitating, this session brought together key experts to focus on Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management, a core pillar of national health security.
Discussions centered on using modern digital tools to track disease outbreaks in real time, build early warning systems, and share data seamlessly to ensure fast, coordinated action during health emergencies. The focus on data sharing and real time tracking reflects a recognition that effective emergency response increasingly depends on how quickly information moves between different institutions and levels of government.
The workshop drew active participation from across the health, disaster management, and digital technology sectors, including representation from the National Disaster Management Authority, the National Disaster Risk Management Fund, provincial health departments, key international development partners, and leadership from Pakistan Digital Authority. The involvement of disaster management institutions alongside health sector representatives reflects the cross-cutting nature of emergency preparedness, which spans public health, logistics, and crisis coordination functions.
The Islamabad session adds to the ongoing ten workshop series spanning Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, and Muzaffarabad, following earlier sessions in Lahore covering human resources for health and maternal, newborn, and child health, and in Karachi focused on labs, pharma, supply chains, and regulatory governance. Organizers said the collaborative insights gathered during this session are laying the groundwork for actionable, technology enabled strategies intended to keep Pakistan’s health system resilient, proactive, and fully equipped for emergency response as the broader digital health strategy continues to take shape.
