GITEX Watch: Pakistani IT Firms Garner Strong Global Interest In Dubai

Dubai, October 16, 2024 – Pakistan’s IT sector received significant global attention at GITEX Global 2024, further cementing the country’s status as the “Tech Destination of the Year 2024.” A meeting chaired by Pakistan’s Envoy to the UAE, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, at the Dubai World Trade Centre today, reviewed the performance of Pakistani exhibitors at the event, which showcased innovative tech products and solutions.

The meeting was attended by key figures including Mr. Ali Zeb Khan, Trade and Investment Counsellor Dubai; Mr. Muhammad Zohaib Khan, Former Chairman P@SHA; Mr. Umair Nizam, Senior Vice President P@SHA; Mr. Zeeshan Khattak, Acting CEO PSEB; Mr. Shahbaz Hameed, Director PSEB; Brig. Nadir from SIFC; Mr. Ayub Ghauri, CEO NetSol Technologies; Mr. Raheel Iqbal, Vice Chairman P@SHA; Mr. Haris Naseer, COO Infotech; and Mr. Amir Anzur, Chief Marketing Officer PSEB, along with other senior officials.

The discussion focused on the feedback received from international delegates, along with potential global partnerships. Ambassador Tirmizi praised the enthusiastic reception of Pakistan’s IT sector at GITEX, noting that many international organizations have expressed interest in collaborating with Pakistani companies.

Ambassador Tirmizi said,

“We are committed to ensuring that Pakistani IT companies registered back home receive full support, particularly in facilitating joint ventures that will remit capital back to Pakistan, thereby strengthening our national economy,”

He also stressed the importance of fostering cooperation among high-end IT firms to form consortia capable of delivering world-class services globally.

The Ambassador also underscored the need for IT-specific events dedicated to areas like digital transformation, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, which would highlight Pakistan’s capabilities in these fields and attract more international partners.

GITEX Global 2024 has been a milestone for Pakistan’s IT industry, solidifying its growing reputation as a leading player in the global tech market.
