The Sindh Transport Department is facing challenges in maintaining the operations of electric buses due to charging issues. As per media reports, the department has taken measures by deploying red buses on new electric bus routes to ensure continuity.

The National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), responsible for procuring, operating, and maintaining buses, has assured that all Public Bus Service (PBS) routes, including electric bus routes, are still operational. To address the charging problem, the NRTC is utilizing standby PBS fleet on the electric bus routes while awaiting the arrival of new charging ports.

Efforts were made by the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) to rectify the charging ports through the assistance of local engineers. Unfortunately, the hired professionals were unable to resolve the issue, leading to delays in the restoration of electric bus services.

To tackle the problem, engineers from the Chinese bus manufacturer have now taken charge and are committed to resolving the charging issues. However, the exact timeline for the resumption of electric bus services remains uncertain.

The Sindh Transport Department and relevant authorities are working diligently to overcome the charging challenges and ensure the smooth operation of electric buses in the region.
