Chery Master Pakistan has officially commenced customer deliveries of the Tiggo 9 PHEV, establishing it as Pakistan’s first premium plug-in hybrid electric sport utility vehicle to reach local roads. The milestone arrives just weeks after the vehicle’s locally assembled CKD line-off earlier this year, representing one of the fastest transitions from production readiness to customer handover that Pakistan’s automotive industry has seen, reflecting both the manufacturing depth of Master Group and the global engineering expertise of Chery Automobile backing the partnership.
The Tiggo 9 PHEV sits at the top of Chery’s sport utility vehicle lineup and is powered by Chery Super Hybrid technology, delivering up to 170 kilometres of pure electric driving range and a combined total driving range of up to 1,400 kilometres. The system produces 610 horsepower and 920 Newton metres of torque with all-wheel drive capability, placing the vehicle in a performance bracket previously unoccupied by any locally assembled plug-in hybrid in the Pakistani market. Inside, the cabin is equipped with a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 14-speaker Sony audio system, massage seats, and heated and ventilated seating across both rows of the cabin. On the safety front, the vehicle offers 10 airbags, Level 2 Plus Advanced Driver Assistance Systems covering more than 27 intelligent driving functions, and automatic parking assistance, combining comfort and safety credentials that the company says set a new benchmark for the premium sport utility vehicle segment in Pakistan.
The Tiggo 9 PHEV delivery commencement follows the back-to-back rollout of the Tiggo 8 PHEV and Tiggo 7 PHEV within a remarkably compressed timeframe, giving Chery Master Pakistan the distinction of being among the first automotive brands in the country’s history to introduce three globally benchmarked CKD plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle models in rapid succession. Samir Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Master Auto Engineering, described the milestone as a proud moment for Pakistan’s automotive industry, noting that the speed of delivery following local line-off reflects the manufacturing strength, execution capability, and decades of industrial legacy that the partnership between Chery and Master Group brings to the market. Master Group’s automotive footprint in Pakistan includes approximately 80 percent market share in the bus segment through Master Yutong, components integration into around 15 percent of locally assembled vehicles through Procon Engineering, and a joint venture with Changan that has become the country’s fourth largest automobile brand. Globally, Chery has maintained its position as China’s leading automotive exporter for 23 consecutive years, with operations spanning more than 130 countries and a global user base exceeding 19 million.
