Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is witnessing a transformative shift in its tourism landscape, thanks to a pioneering initiative launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA). On Thursday, DG Ashfeen Haider unveiled a interest-free loan scheme aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs, particularly women, in tourist areas. This initiative is set to revolutionize tourism in the region, providing visitors with a homely experience while economically empowering local communities.

In an interview with a private news channel, Ashfeen Haider shed light on the scheme’s significance and its potential to elevate the tourism sector. The Director General emphasized the crucial role of this initiative in facilitating the growth of local businesses and unlocking the vast tourism potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The KP government’s interest-free loan scheme is beneficial for local entrepreneurs and the tourism industry, particularly empowering women.”

The scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to young entrepreneurs, helping them establish and grow businesses that cater to the tourism sector. Ashfeen Haider further explained the implementation process, noting that the loan distribution would occur in three phases.

“We have categorized the loan distribution process into three phases. After the final phase, we will conduct assessments to ensure that the facilities and accommodations provided to tourists meet our standards.”

Sustainability is another key focus of this initiative. The DG pointed out that integrating solar energy solutions into these tourism facilities would not only make them more sustainable but also eco-friendly, contributing to a greener tourism experience.

“Additionally, we will also focus on incorporating solar energy solutions to make these facilities more sustainable and eco-friendly.”

A central aspect of the initiative is its commitment to gender equality. Ashfeen Haider revealed that the scheme aims to empower women entrepreneurs by ensuring they have equal access to these loans.

“We are committed to ensuring complete transparency in this scheme. Moreover, we have set a target to empower at least 50% of the beneficiaries to be female entrepreneurs, providing them with equal opportunities to access these interest-free loans and participate in the growth of KP’s tourism industry.”

Drawing inspiration from successful international models, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is also focused on ensuring world-class facilities for tourists.

“We have drawn inspiration from international best practices and are committed to providing world-class facilities to tourists, ensuring a memorable and comfortable experience in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

This initiative represents a significant step forward for the region, not only fostering economic growth but also empowering local communities and promoting sustainable tourism practices. As the program rolls out, it is expected to create lasting impacts on both the local economy and the tourism experience in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, making it a top destination for visitors from around the world.
