The Pakistan Software Export Board held GAIN Session 17 with the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution, giving 112 IT and ITeS companies the chance to put their questions on EOBI compliance directly to EOBI officials. The session was hosted by PSEB in collaboration with EOBI, which works under the Ministry of Labour, and was designed around the idea that compliance with EOBI rules raises real questions for businesses. It opened with PSEB Chief Executive Officer Faisal Jeddy, who set the stage for a focused and practical exchange between the industry and the institution. With 112 companies taking part, the session reached a large share of the sector in a single sitting.
The session focused on the areas where companies most often need clarity. These included registration requirements, employer obligations, contributions, employee eligibility, benefits and compliance matters. For IT and ITeS companies, particularly smaller firms that are growing quickly and adding staff, these are everyday questions, since an employer needs to know when to register, how much to contribute and which employees qualify. Nilofer, Deputy Regional Head of the EOBI Regional Office Islamabad West, led the presentation, covering these topics for the participating companies. Clear information on these points also helps employers avoid mistakes that could lead to compliance problems later.
The presentation was followed by an extensive interactive question and answer session led by Usman Amin, Assistant Director at EOBI. According to PSEB, the discussion quickly moved beyond the presentation, with participants raising practical questions, sharing real scenarios and asking for clarity on issues they face in their day to day operations. Taking questions based on actual cases allowed EOBI officials to respond to specific situations, which is often more useful to businesses than general guidance. PSEB said the level of participation and the range of questions raised showed the value of bringing companies and EOBI into the same conversation.
PSEB said it will continue to build on this engagement and create more opportunities for IT and ITeS companies to get clarity on the issues that matter to their teams and daily operations. GAIN is the board’s series of sessions that connects Pakistan’s IT and ITeS industry with the institutions that shape the business environment. Earlier sessions in the series have covered legal and tax matters, and Session 17 now adds labour related compliance to the topics addressed. PSEB has asked companies that missed the session to stay tuned for upcoming sessions, and further dates and topics are expected to be announced through the board’s channels.
