Visa has introduced a new suite of smartphone-powered payment solutions designed to help small businesses accept digital payments, send money and manage financial transactions using only their mobile devices. The new offerings aim to reduce barriers for micro, small and medium-sized businesses by eliminating the need for dedicated point-of-sale hardware and making digital payment acceptance more accessible.

The latest launch includes three key solutions like Visa Accept, Visa Pay and Visa Direct that collectively transform smartphones into comprehensive business payment tools. The initiative targets small merchants, street vendors, freelancers and growing businesses that increasingly rely on mobile devices to conduct daily operations and interact with customers.

Visa Accept allows merchants to convert NFC-enabled smartphones into contactless payment terminals. Customers can simply tap their Visa cards or compatible mobile wallets on the merchant’s smartphone to complete transactions securely, removing the need for separate card readers or payment terminals. The solution is expected to lower setup costs and make digital payments more accessible for businesses operating in emerging markets.

The company has also expanded Visa Pay, enabling digital wallets and payment applications to connect directly with Visa’s global payment network. This allows consumers to make payments using the digital wallets and financial apps they already use, creating a more seamless checkout experience while giving merchants access to a broader customer base without requiring additional integrations.

In addition, Visa Direct enables businesses to send real-time payouts directly from their smartphones. Small businesses can use the service to pay employees, contractors and suppliers, process customer refunds, distribute incentives and make eligible cross-border transfers to bank accounts, payment cards or digital wallets. The solution is designed to simplify money movement while reducing delays associated with traditional payment methods.

According to Visa, demand for unified financial management tools among small businesses continues to grow as merchants seek simpler ways to accept payments and manage operations from a single platform. By combining payment acceptance, fund transfers and digital wallet connectivity into smartphone-based solutions, the company aims to help businesses improve operational efficiency while expanding financial inclusion.

The launch reflects the broader shift toward mobile-first commerce, where smartphones are becoming central to business operations beyond communication. As digital payments continue gaining momentum worldwide, solutions that eliminate hardware costs and simplify payment acceptance are expected to play an increasingly important role in helping small businesses participate in the digital economy and serve customers more efficiently.
