FBR has achieved significant progress in registering small businesses under its Tajir Dost scheme. As of June 4, 2024, a total of 23,497 shopkeepers and retailers have been successfully registered.

Karachi leads the way with 5,599 registrations, followed by Lahore with 7,297. Islamabad has seen 2,153 retailers join the scheme, while Rawalpindi boasts 3,067 registrations.

Other major cities are also contributing to the program’s success. Peshawar has registered 2,037 retailers, while Quetta has seen 1,317 businesses join. The remaining registrations come from various smaller cities across Pakistan.

This initiative aims to bring small businesses into the tax net, promoting financial inclusion and boosting government revenue. The FBR’s efforts to simplify the registration process and raise awareness appear to be paying off.
