Mobilink Bank has launched a social investment initiative in collaboration with the Depilex Smileagain Foundation, providing 25 electric scooters to female survivors of acid and kerosene burn violence as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility programme, with the initiative aimed at restoring independence and expanding access to daily opportunities for women rebuilding their lives after traumatic experiences.

The signing and handover ceremony was held in Lahore and attended by senior leadership from both organisations, who acknowledged mobility as one of the most critical and frequently overlooked challenges facing women survivors in Pakistan. For many individuals rebuilding their lives after burn injuries, the ability to commute independently to pursue education, employment, healthcare, and social engagement is not simply a matter of convenience but a prerequisite for meaningful rehabilitation and sustained economic participation. The absence of reliable, accessible transportation has historically been a structural barrier that limits survivor reintegration regardless of the medical and psychological support available to them.

Speaking at the ceremony, Khowla Shoaib, Head of Strategy and Sustainability at Mobilink Bank, said that while nothing can change what these women have endured, removing barriers to independence is something the bank can actively support, describing sustainable mobility as a concrete way of helping survivors access education, employment, healthcare, and everyday opportunities on their own terms. Musarrat Misbah, Founder and President of the Depilex Smileagain Foundation, said true rehabilitation is about restoring independence and opportunity, and that greater freedom to access work, education, and daily life is central to helping survivors rebuild with dignity.

The bank’s decision to provide electric scooters rather than conventional vehicles reflects a deliberate choice to combine social inclusion with environmental responsibility, aligning the initiative with Mobilink Bank’s broader commitment to environmental, social, and governance-driven growth. The partnership positions sustainable mobility as a vehicle for both individual empowerment and institutional values, with the Depilex Smileagain Foundation’s rehabilitation work gaining a practical, long-term asset for its beneficiaries and Mobilink Bank demonstrating that its financial inclusion mandate extends meaningfully into the lives of Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities.
