The federal government has introduced an online payment system for Hajj dues, allowing aspiring pilgrims to complete payments digitally without visiting bank branches. Developed through Pakistan’s 1LINK interbank network, the new facility is part of the government’s broader effort to fully digitize the Hajj process and improve convenience for applicants. The initiative enables pilgrims to deposit Hajj dues securely from their homes while simplifying one of the most important stages of the pilgrimage application process.
The digital payment system has been integrated with Pakistan’s online Hajj portal, allowing users to complete registration and payments through a unified platform. Officials said the new mechanism eliminates the need for manual bank visits and is intended to make the application process faster, more efficient and accessible for applicants across the country and overseas Pakistanis. The online portal has already received more than 150,000 registrations for Hajj 2027, reflecting strong public interest in the digital registration system.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs developed the online payment facility in collaboration with the National Information Technology Board as part of its wider digital transformation strategy. The ministry aims to provide end to end digital services covering registration, payment processing and other administrative procedures associated with the pilgrimage. By integrating electronic payments into the Hajj management system, authorities expect to reduce paperwork, improve transparency and provide a smoother experience for prospective pilgrims while strengthening operational efficiency.
The launch of the online Hajj payment system represents another milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing digitalization of public services. As government departments continue adopting digital platforms for citizen services, initiatives such as online Hajj registration and payments demonstrate how technology can simplify administrative processes while improving accessibility and convenience. The move also highlights the growing role of secure digital payment infrastructure in supporting large scale government services and accelerating Pakistan’s broader digital transformation agenda.
