The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has launched the PSCA NextGen Safety App, a dedicated mobile platform designed to improve the safety, security, and wellbeing of young people across Punjab under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s youth-focused governance initiatives. The app is designed to provide users with quick access to emergency assistance, professional guidance, and a range of safety-related services through a single platform, enabling users to seek help during emergencies and access support services more efficiently through their smartphones. The application is available for download on both Android and iOS devices, making it accessible to the broad base of smartphone users within Punjab’s youth population.
One of the most significant features of the NextGen Safety App is the ability for users to report problems and incidents without revealing their identity, ensuring privacy and trust for young people who may otherwise hesitate to come forward with complaints or requests for assistance. The app includes features such as Emergency Helpline 15, Family Circle, and location sharing, giving users multiple layers of safety infrastructure within a single application. The anonymous reporting capability is particularly important for addressing situations where young users may fear social consequences or reputational risk from seeking help through conventional channels, removing a barrier that has historically limited the effectiveness of public safety reporting systems among younger demographics.
The NextGen Safety App allows users to contact emergency services within seconds through multiple communication options, including live chat, direct Emergency 15 calls, and video call assistance. One of the application’s central features is the Call-15 Emergency Button, which connects users instantly with the Police-15 helpline in the event of danger. Users can also access live video assistance by tapping the video call option, providing a real-time communication channel between citizens and emergency responders during critical situations. The combination of text, voice, and video communication options within a single emergency platform represents a more sophisticated approach to public safety application design than the single-channel helpline models that have been standard in Pakistan’s public safety infrastructure.
Officials said the launch is part of broader efforts to use technology for public safety and to provide young people with convenient access to protection, guidance, and assistance whenever needed, with the authority adding that the app reflects Punjab’s growing focus on digital governance and citizen-centric services, particularly for the province’s youth population. The NextGen Safety App builds on Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s existing portfolio of digital public safety tools, which includes the Virtual Women Police Station that was recently shortlisted among the world’s top 20 digital governance projects at the United Nations-backed World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2026, further establishing PSCA as one of Pakistan’s most active public safety technology institutions.
