A strategic meeting was held at the Chief Minister House in Karachi to strengthen federal provincial alignment on Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The meeting brought together senior federal and provincial officials to discuss key legislative and institutional developments shaping the country’s digital governance framework, reflecting continued coordination between Islamabad and the provinces on national digital policy.
The session was attended by Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Provincial Minister for IT Ali Rashid, Federal Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan, Pakistan Digital Authority Chairman Dr. Sohail Munir, Sindh IT Secretary Agha Sohail, Sindh IT Company CEO Zainulabedin Shah, and Member IT Industries Ayaz Uqaili. The breadth of attendance, spanning both federal ministry leadership and Sindh’s provincial IT apparatus, underscored the meeting’s focus on aligning digital governance priorities across different levels of government.
Discussions centered on the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025, the legislative framework that established the Pakistan Digital Authority and set out the country’s broader digital governance and public infrastructure agenda. The meeting also addressed the National Digital Commission, a coordinating body under the act responsible for setting strategic direction across federal and provincial digital initiatives, alongside key provincial priorities that Sindh officials sought to raise for national consideration as implementation of the act continues to unfold.
The meeting reflects the ongoing institutional coordination required to implement Pakistan’s Digital Nation Act across a federal system where digital governance responsibilities are shared between national and provincial authorities. With Sindh represented by its top IT leadership alongside federal counterparts including the Pakistan Digital Authority chairman, the session signals continued efforts to ensure provincial input shapes how national digital policy frameworks are rolled out and adapted to regional needs across Pakistan’s different provinces.
