Punjab Enforcement and Regulator Authority (PERA) Force is set to undergo a significant technological transformation following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. During a high-level meeting on Friday, the Chief Minister reviewed the force’s performance and highlighted the need for modernisation to strengthen transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency. Central to the discussion was the elimination of corruption, with a zero-tolerance policy announced for bribery, misconduct, or abuse of authority within the force. To enforce this directive, CM Maryam Nawaz ordered the immediate installation of body cameras for all personnel, ensuring that all field operations are recorded and monitored in real time. She emphasised that this step is essential to foster public trust and maintain integrity across all levels of the force.

Alongside enhanced surveillance, the Chief Minister approved a major fleet upgrade, introducing electric vehicles (EVs) to the PERA Force. These vehicles are expected to improve response times, ensure safer operations, and reduce the environmental impact of urban mobility. By integrating EVs, the force aligns with modern urban standards, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and efficient law enforcement. Officials noted that these changes will enable personnel to cover larger areas more effectively while maintaining eco-friendly operations, highlighting a forward-looking approach to integrating technology with public service.

The modernization effort extends beyond hardware, with CM Maryam Nawaz granting in-principle approval for a state-of-the-art PERA Training Centre. The centre will provide specialized sessions designed to enhance operational capacity, improve technical skills, and ensure personnel are equipped to handle emerging challenges. Emphasis will also be placed on upholding a professional code of conduct, as the Chief Minister stressed that interactions with the public should remain polite, friendly, and dignified. According to CM Maryam Nawaz, officers who provide efficient and considerate service earn lasting recognition and trust from the communities they serve, reinforcing the importance of combining technology with human-centered practices.

Officials confirmed that the integration of body cams, electric vehicles, and specialized training is expected to transform the PERA Force into a more transparent, accountable, and technologically capable entity. The Chief Minister praised the force for its current performance while underscoring the need for continued focus on public goodwill and operational excellence. This initiative reflects a broader push by Punjab government to adopt digital tools and innovative practices across provincial services, using technology to enhance citizen experience and improve efficiency in governance. By modernizing both operational and human capabilities, the PERA Force is positioned to serve as a model for smart, accountable, and sustainable law enforcement.
